Micqaela grew up on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation of the Shoshone and Paiute Nations, located 100 miles northeast of Elko, Nevada, on the Idaho border. His youth was filled with rich visual experiences, days spent hunting, fishing and enjoying the beauty of Nevada's nature with his sister and two brothers. It was not until later in life, as a young adult, that Micqaela began to paint and show his art in various art exhibitions around the country, such as the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Indian art from the Eiteljorg Museum, the Autry Museum of Los Angeles, Cherokee Art Market, Red Earth Market as well as several museum exhibits and solo exhibitions.
